New Swedish Plasterboard Waste Laws

Home/C&D Waste/New Swedish Plasterboard Waste Laws

The Swedish Environmental Agency, Naturvårdsverket, in April 2012 issued new and stricter rules regarding handling, sorting and landfiling of gypsum plasterboard waste, following intervention from the EU Commission. From this date plasterboard waste in Sweden in line with EU Council decision 33/2002 must be segregated from mixed waste containing organic materials, and plasterboard waste can only legally be disposed of as a segregated waste fraction in special landfills that have mono cells for plasterboard waste or diverting it from landfill by recycling it.
