Gyprock & Plasterboard Waste
is 100% Recyclable
The ReGyp recycling solution assures that gyprock and plasterboard waste becomes 100% recyclable. The reprocessed gypsum powder which makes up to 94% of the waste, can be sent back to the board manufacturers so that they can make new plasterboard with it (closed loop recycling). The paper which makes up to 6% of the waste can be reused in various industries. Nothing goes to the landfill.
Technical Talk - For plasterboard and gyprcok manufacture,
gypsum is ground to 100% passing 75um and then cooked creating plaster/calcined
gypsum (CaSO4 1/2H20).
The plaster is re-hydrated with water to create a slurry for forming during the plasterboard manufacturing process.
The finished plasterboard product has a
rehydrated gypsum (CaSO4 2H20)
core inside the paper liner.
